with Various Instructors
$225
Over six weeks, students will explore how theater can be a vehicle for social change. The course includes reading excerpts of plays and essays that highlight the intersections between theater, individual lived experience, and larger societal issues, followed by rigorous class discussion and introspection. Students will participate in games and movement exercises to develop skills for social change-oriented performance and artistic expression. Emphasizing personal growth and community, the course culminates in a brief solo or ensemble performance to highlight social issues the class finds compelling.
Students in this course receive one (1) complementary ticket to the Thursday, June 10 performance of the musical Next to Normal for class discussion.
