This introductory acting class is a weekly 2-hour course focusing on the basic techniques of acting and performance, such as creating intention, connecting with another actor, building a character, improvisation, characterization, and emotional connection. Our practical projects will vary from monologues to improvisation and scene study, focusing on each student’s needs and strengths. Actors will encounter works that present unique challenges in terms of language, physicality, characterization, style, content, and text analysis. The class will fuse acting, voice, and movement into a comprehensive unit by approaching the text simultaneously from these three perspectives. Some rehearsal outside of class time may be required.
