Theater for Social Change
with Various Instructors
$275
This class is co-instructed by Matthew Bretschneider and Wensley Bynoe. Over 8 weeks, students will create a brief solo or ensemble performance to highlight a social issue they find compelling. The class will emphasize personal growth and community building within a supportive environment. Students will explore theatre for social change by participating in rigorous class discussion, personal introspection and reading excerpts from plays and critical essays which highlight the intersections between their theater, individual lived experience and larger societal issues/questions. Students will also participate in games, vocal warm-ups, and acting exercises based in movement and playful improvisation to develop skills for performance and artistic expression.
